Reliance Industries to take over Mumbai franchisee in Hockey India League?

After the withdrawal of Dabur family owned Mumbai Magicians, Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Industries Ltd have come in as a shock replacement for Mumbai based Hockey India League franchisee.

RIL to join HIL bandwagon?
Despite the withdrawal, Dabur family, who are big hockey enthusiast still wanted Mumbai city to be represented in Hockey India League. The departure has forced Hockey India League management to search for a replacement and Reliance Industries Ltd have expressed its interest in replacing Mumbai Magicians but there has been no official confirmation regarding the same. The picture though will be clear in a months time as the discussions between both Reliance and Hockey India League is currently on.


If Reliance Industries decides to join Hockey India League bandwagon it will be biggest victory of Hockey India League as both the popularity and money of Reliance Industries will help Indian hockey and Hockey India League.

Hockey India League is currently facing crisis as two teams, Dabur family owned Mumbai Magicians and winner of first season Ranchi Rhinos have withdrawn from third edition of the tournament.

Yesterday, HIL announced new franchisee from Pune owned by Mr. Anirban Sarkar of Deccan Water Treatment Pvt Ltd. To read more about the franchisee click here
