Indian Team For Women World Hockey League Round 2 Announced

Hockey India yesterday announced Indian women team for Round 2 of World Hockey League to be played at Major Dhyan Chand national stadium in New Delhi from March 7.
India to host World Hockey League Round 2

Ritu Rani who has won 193 caps for India will be captain of the side while Deepika will be vice-captain of the team. Hockey India selectors has an experienced squad for the tournament looking at the fact that it is the only way Indian women team can qualify for Rio Olympics to be played in 2016.

Indian team had decent preparation for Hockey World League as they toured Spain where they played 5 matches and ended up with 2 wins (Spain and Germany). One match against Spain women was a draw while women team lost two games played against two boys club.



World Hockey League Round 2 consists of 8 teams placed in two groups of 4 teams eatch. Hosts India have a easy draw in Hockey World League after being placed in Group A which featurs Poland, Ghana and Thailand. Group B conists of Malaysia, Russia, Kazakhistan and Singapore.

India will start its campain against Ghana on March 4.

DEFENDERS - Deep Grace Ekka, Deepika (VC), Namita Toppo, Jaspreet Kaur, Sunita Lakra

MIDFIELDERS - Ritu Rani (C), Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Lilima Minz, Navjot Kaur, Monika

FORWARDS - Rani, Poonam Rani, Anupa Barla, Soundarya Yendala, Amandeep Kaur, Vandana Katariya
