Bharat chetri to captain Indian team in Hockey Test Event
Mostly the squad that played in the Olympics qualifiers has been retained by the Hockey India selectors with the only exception of Rupinder Pal Singh. Defender and PC expert Rupinder has been kept as a stand by and Gurbaj Singh who missed Olympics qualifiers due to an injury will make his comeback in the team.

Former Indian captain Ignace Tirkey who was a pivotal role in the Indian midfield for years will now have a new role as a defender.

the big absentee names are of Rajpal Singh and Yuvraj Walmiki. Rajpal who was not even among the probables of Olympics was again left out of the team (may be due to participation in WSH) while Yuvraj Walmiki who suffered an injury in the Olympics Qualifiers was also not included in the squad. Yuvraj Walmiki is short of match experience and that may be the reason for his absence from the squad.
