Injury problems for India before team selection

Indian coach Michael Nobbs and selectors face a tough task when team for inaugural Asian champions Trophy is selected on Monday due to injuries to the players.

The biggest name on the injury list is Indian captain Arjun Halappa who is out due to groin injury. Arjun had taken part in the first phase of camp but he made himself unavailable for the second phase of the camp due to injury. Striker Shivendra Singh has not recovered from the collar-bone fracture and he will also be out of the 18 member team for Asian Champions Trophy.

Bharat Chikara is also likely to miss Asian Champions Trophy . Bharat is nursing a knee injury which has kept him out of action for the past 6 months and it is unlikely that he will feature in the team. Defender and penalty corner expert Dhananjay Mahadik who injured his ankle in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is also unlikey to make the squad for the Asian Champions Trophy.

Injury to key players of the team will make it difficult for new coach Michael Nobbs to selected an experienced team for the tournament which will feature top 6 teams of Asia.

The list of 48 probables for Asian Champions Trophy can be read here.
