Michael Nobbs named new coach of India

Former Australian center-half Michael Nobbs has been offered the job of coaching Indian men's hockey team for next 5 years till (Brazil Olympics 2016). Nobbs will become third coach of Indian hockey team after Gerhard Rach and Jose Brasa.

Member of 1984 Australian team which finished 4th ill be offered 10000 Australian Dollars per month initially. His salary will be hiked by 10% if Indian team qualifies for the Olympics. His contract is based on performance based incentives.

This is for the first time that any coach has been offered a long tenure. Michael Nobbs could join the national camp which will be held in Bangalore from 1st July for the selection and preparation of Champions Trophy. The major reason for the selection of Michael Nobbs is due to Australian style of hockey which is very popular in the world.

  2. Yes i think we are on the right track again he was a good Centre-half for Australian in 1984 Olympics with Ric Charlesworth..... his coaching standards are oustanding he will bring back glory to Indian Hockey in 2012
